Day off and playing catch up

Finally a day off!! Working the weekend is NEVER a good thing.

Ok so I'll try to catch up from where I left off.

This mani was done with Nubar Pharaoh's Purple as a base, then I applied Nubar Purple Beach on the other half of my nail. I didn't even bother taping it off...I just painted a stripe. *blush*

Photo taken in direct sunlight.

Photo taken indoors in natural light. You can see a bit of the duochrome going on.

The duochrome in Purple Beach is pretty. It flashes olive green, gold, and grey.

2nd one is with my fave out of my Bobbie haul, Weng Weng. It's also my first time dabbling in using my dotting tool...pardon the mess...I'm a n00b.

Taken in direct sunlight.

Closer shot. Oh how I love this polish!!! =) I added the colourful dots cuz I was feeling spring-y. I used Joe Fresh in Coral and Powder Blue and China Glaze For Audrey.

I've got 3 more to show you but that'll be for another post. One of them is Nubar Reclaim!! This polish literally rendered me speechless. I couldn't believe how gorgeous it was!!

'Til the next manicure!

Valentine's Day mini-haul

Belated Happy Valentine's Day to you all!!

So my bf and I celebrated on Sunday because he had to work yesterday. He took me shopping at Sephora, went out to dinner at our fave lil hole-in-the-wall that serves Thai and Vietnamese food and watched Gnomeo and Juliet! So at Sephora, he told me to pick out what I wanted (all within his budget of course) and I came out with these beauties!

Left: Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Eye Primer
Middle: Tarina Tarantino Fleur De Lash mascara in Black Opal
Right: Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain

Of course as soon as I purchased them, I tried them on! The eye primer is very good. It made my oily lids look matte and clean. Unfortunately, didn't have any eyeshadow on me so I can't test it for creasing, fading etc.

The mascara was fantastic! Those who know me, know that I'm such a stickler for mascara. I was actually worried that I wouldn't like this because my first choice was Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascara. Unfortunately, they were sold out. =( So I quickly looked around and this caught my eye. This mascara is DEFINITELY buildable with minimal clumping for me. I still went through my eyelashes with a comb of course just to help fan them out. But I love love love it! No matter how many coats I put on, my lashes never had that crunchy feeling, they still remained soft.

The lip balm stain is also a big win for me. The shade I chose is Donutella, which is a sheer coral strawberry. The packaging is adorable first of all. I've always liked Tokidoki ever since I first saw it. The balm itself is fantastic! It glides very smoothly on my lips and the colour is very apparent!

Chel also picked this up for me at the Winners that she went to. Color Club Dark Romance The Matte Collection minis!!!

L-R: Matte Top Coat, Alabaster, Smoke and Mirrors, Dark Romance

I have resisted matte polishes for so long because I never thought that they would look good on me. I wanted my nails shiny and eye-catching! But as soon as I put these babies on...I died a little. It opens up a different world of possibilities for nails! And of course, Chel said the proverbial "I told you so." I'm currently sporting Dark Romance with Hidden Treasure and matte top coat.

After our night out, we stopped by Walmart and did a little bit of grocery shopping. I stayed away from the cosmetics department until an idea popped into my head. I realized that I had no space for my polishes with the kits that I currently own, especially with 21 more bottles of polish coming my way! See previous kit post. So I picked up a Caboodles "doctor's bag".

L: Konad supplies, top coats, stripers, polish remover, cotton squares
M: China Glaze, OPI, Color Club
R: Sally Hansen, Wet n Wild, Joe, Minis, Sula and all others

China Glaze, OPI and Color Club

Sally Hansen, Wet n Wild, Joe, Sula, Minis, CQ, Rimmel, Maybelline

Next post will be my Valentine's Day mani and current one.

'Til the next Konadicure!

Purple Pearl and Wallpaper on Peacock

I've done two Konadicures since coming back from NYC. My Flower Power was good during the trip but I had to change it once I got home.

This one is just a variation of my Flower Power. This picture was taken after 5 days of wear...I realized I haven't taken a picture of it yet and I was planning on changing my Konadicure today.
I used China Glaze Grape Pop and Finger Paints Well-Cultured Pearl as base colours and switched them up for stamping. For this I had tried the "Sticky Sandwich" method.

I used Orly Bonder as a base coat and then applied my base colours on top. Then another coat of Orly Bonder then another layer of base colour. Then ANOTHER layer of Orly Bonder then my Seche Vite Top Coat.

As you can see, no chipping, very very minimal tip wear.

My current Konadicure is what I call Wallpaper on Peacock.

For Base Coat I used Orly Bonder and I did the "Sticky Sandwich" method again. Then I used Joe in Peacock for my base colour. Then for stamping I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Rave Review Critique which my friend told me about. I love stamping with it! I never ONCE had to re-do a stamp! I used M65 for the flowers and vines. Then Seche Vite for my top coat.

Doesn't it look like wallpaper? =D

I've been a very bad girl. I had gone to Sally's and bought 3 Finger Paints nail polishes in Well-Cultured Pearl, Silver Sculpture and Hue Rang? I also ordered 4 plates before I left for NYC and a week later I got my haul!! I bought M64, M65, S6 and S9. If you're wondering where I order my supplies from, I order from www.wowsocool.com. They send your orders pretty fast and if your order is $20 or more, they ship for free to U.S. and Canada!

'Til the next Konadicure!

First post!!

Yay! My very own blog for my current love for nails, nails and more nails!

I'll be posting pics of nail art that I've done using Konad stamping and also what colour nail polishes I've used. This is gonna be a gigantic blog because I've done 11 so far on myself and 3 on my friends.

I got started on Konad because of my good friend Jeanna and I hate/love her for exposing me to this!! I had gone to Vaughan Mills with my boyfriend and stalked the mall looking for the booth that sold it. I bought a double sided stamper with a scraper, an image plate holder and image plate m56.

This was my very first attempt at Konad and I'm going to apologize in advance for some of the oh-so-very blurry pictures that you will see. I wish BB cams were better. bitter

My 2nd attempt at a Konadicure. I used Revlon in Valentine , I forgot which white nail polish and the same image plate m56 and used the swirlies french tip. This turned out a bit better than my first one but I still needed to re-do some of the stamping a lot!

My 3rd attempt! I used SH Xtreme Wear in Black Out again with the same image plate (it was the only one I had at the time!!) and used the checkered french tip. I felt like I should be standing at the start of a race flailing my hands around as a flag!! laughing

So at this point I had gone to Markham with some friends and we visited a store called Wow Wow Nails which had an abundance of Konad supplies. So after getting my friends into Konad as well...we all purchased something! I bought 3 more plates: m19, m36 and m66.

These were my Konadicures with my new m56 plate. I used Nailene French tip for a base, Revlon in Valentine and SH in Black Out. The 2nd Konadicure was a revised version with my accent nails changed.

My 6th Konadicure during a sleepover with my friend Rachel. I used Joe in Peacock, Rachel's special Konad nail polish in Black, Joe in White and LA Colors Art Deco in silver glitter. I also borrowed her image plate m62 for the hanging bows and used my m56 for the white bow.

These were my super girly nails! I used Joe in Pink and Orchid and image plate m36 for the designs.

This was a Konadicure done in a hotel room in Pennsylvania. Nothing special...I just wanted to change my nails. I used SH Xtreme Wear in Blue Me Away and Joe in Black and White for stamping. The image plate I used was m36.

This was my version of a Konadicure that I saw on Youtube by PlasmaSpeedo. I didn't have the image plate she used though so I had to improvise. I used Wet n Wild in Black Creme and CQ in Twilight and image plate m36 for the butterflies and m56 for the swirly design. I had a hard time with the staining from Blue Me Away and you can still see a bit of it left behind.

My Konadicure using my new image plate m57!! I loved these zebra nails but it took basically half a day to do!! I used Nailene French tip for the base colour and WnW Black Creme for stamping.

These are my current nails and my 11th Konadicure. I used China Glaze in Four Leaf Clover for the base colour and WnW Black Creme for the accent nail and just switched them up for stamping. My boyfriend, Jay picked out Four Leaf Clover for me from his recent trip to Cali and China Glaze Grape Pop which I haven't had a chance to use yet. He's got awesome taste! pleased

So these have been my Konadicures since I first purchased my Konad kit last month!! I'm looking forward to many more to come!!
