I need a Clairvoyant to find the Secret Peri-wink-le!

Hello beauty lovers!! Happy Easter Monday to you all! I'm off today, so it's time for another update!!

I was able to pre-order The Super powers collection from Cult Nails when they released it in November of last year. I originally just ordered it for Clairvoyant because I missed out on the Unicorn Puke craze but now I'm so glad I ordered all of them.

Anyways, with that intro, I present my current nails du jour...Secret Peri-wink-le and Clairvoyant! Mind you, I painted my nails last night and I THOUGHT I cleaned up pretty well. Then in comes the macro shots. *facepalm*

I did 2 coats of SP and 3 coats of  Clairvoyant over 1 coat of SP on my ring finger.

Bottle shot in the sun! This polish is just too awesome for words! I think every coloured flakie that ever existed has chosen to reside in this bottle and is now in suspension in the purple jelly base.

Warning: Macro shots ahead. Not only will the polish make your head spin, but the state of my cuticles will too! I'm working on it, I promise! I just bought the ProFX  Apricot Cuticle Oil from Walmart and I'm really liking it!

Obligatory bottle shots!

Here's another post about Secret Peri-wink-le  and another flakie polish, the HTF Hidden Treasure!

Have a happy Monday everyone and here's to a great week!

It's spring!!! Break out the pastels!

Wow, two posts in a row!??! *gasp* Yes yes, 'tis true! I have 2 days off in a row so I'm gonna make the most of it!
So I mentioned before about my mom buying me a China Glaze Pastel Kit from Winners. Here it is!

From top to bottom, left to right:
Something Sweet - pastel pink
Light as Air - pastel lavender
Re-Fresh Mint - pastel green
Peachy Keen - pastel peach
Lemon Fizz - pastel yellow
Bahamian Escape - pastel blue

All of them except for Bahamian Escape are from the Up & Away Pastels from the Spring 2010 collection. Bahamian Escape is from the Bahama Blues Collection from Winter 2008.

I've only tried Peachy Keen so far and application is ok. It's a pastel so I didn't have high hopes lol. I'm excited to try all the other ones!

Bringing back the 80's and 90's with Lisa Frank nails!

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I've been MIA. The last weekend and this past week have been nuts!! But now I've got some downtime which is nice. ^_^

The inspiration for this mani was from Mary from Swatch and Learn who did a Holographic Rainbow Leopard mani. But since I only really had two of the holos that she used, I had to improvise for the other two colours.

I'm sorry for the jacked up pics, they were taken JUST NOW lol and I did mani this last Friday! So not bad for 6 days wear!

For the colours I used Color Club Wild at Heart near the base of the nail, then Nubar Reclaim, then China Glaze Ahoy and finally at the tips, China Glaze Blue Island Iced Tea. I was originally gonna use DS Extravagance and DS Magic but the black spots didn't show up that well. I used the leopard print from Konad image plate m57 and used Wet n Wild Black Creme for stamping.

I got so many compliments while rocking this mani and I just want to thank Mary for reminding me that I had wanted to try this a while back! Thank you also to Sayanythingbr00ke who posted up the tutorial on Youtube!

Do You Think I'm Tex-y holo-fied!!!

Hello beauty bloggers and all others!

Around 2 weeks ago I ordered Nfu Oh #62 and #66 holos off Fabuloustreet. I'm so psyched to get them and try them out!!!!

So in the meantime, I've had to quench my thirst for holos in another way. I made my own! Well, sorta...not quite frankening, more like layering. ^_~

Supplies used! L-R: Orly Bonder, Do You Think I'm Tex-y, Margarita, Wireless, Insta-Dry Topcoat

Base colour is 3 coats OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y from the OPI Texas Collection. This is my very first and only (for now) sorbet shade! Then 2 coats of Bobbie Margarita, then 2 coats of China Glaze Wireless. So many coats!!! LoL! All pictures were taken in sunlight, no flash.

Blurry shot to show off holo-ness!

Sorry for the dry hands/cuticles etc. *sigh* It's a chronic disease. -_- Oh and I've jumped on the Disqus bandwagon...it's so much easier to reply to the comments!

You're a Tree Hugger? I'm Sew Psyched!!

Lame attempt at naming this mani but that's the best my poor brain can come up with after work LOL!

I've been wanting to do this for a while now, and I finally got to do it. The colours I used were Essie Sew Psyched and China Glaze Tree Hugger.

I did a half-moon mani using those page protector sticker things that you can get from Walmart. I painted one coat of Sew Psyched then waited for it to dry. Then I stuck half the page protector stickers on the base of my nail and painted one coat of Tree Hugger on top. Then I peeled off the sticker and voila! Half-moon done GOING GREEN style! Then just for fun, I painted a line using Color Club Silver Holo striper.

Taken outside, no flash. Look no more snow on the ground!

Taken indoors, with flash.

Taken in full sun. Ignore that black dot, I don't know what's wrong with my camera. =( It won't go away...it's probably somewhere inside.

Crop shot of blurry glittery holo goodness.

When I first thought up this mani, I wasn't sure how many coats of Tree Hugger I would need to cover up Sew Psyched. Turns out all I needed was 1. How awesome is that? It's such a gorgeous green apple with pretty shimmer, perfect for spring. Sew Psyched is a greeny-grey colour, perfect for fall, but by the time I got this polish, winter was almost done. So I'll just use it now. =)

Secret Periwinkle and Hidden Treasure [Picture Heavy!]

Another update?!? Yeah I know I know but I won't have time any other day this week so I'm getting it all out of my system now.

Here is Secret Per-wink-le and Hidden Treasure. Well I'm sure not keeping this a secret nor am I keeping it hidden!! I super love this combo!!! Thanks Chel for helping me make up my mind about which base colour to use! I used China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le as a base colour. Here are swatches, 2 coats with no top coat. The first coat was a little goopy but that wasn't something a second coat couldn't fix!

Both taken in the sun. You can still see the snow on the ground! LOL!

This was taken indoors with flash.

I love this colour. It took me so long to purchase it because I thought it would look horrible on me. But I quite like it! =) Thanks BF for making me buy it!

So thanks to Ivana's post where she used Hidden Treasure over OPI Funky Dunkey, I was so inspired to bust out my own Hidden Treasure again. This was 2 coats of HT. In certain lights, the flakes look baby pink. So pretty!

Pictures taken indoors, no flash. I was on my laptop when I noticed my nails looked radioactive. So I had to take pics. LOL!

From #haulfail to #haulwin!!!

Last time, I blogged about how I gave my boyfriend a list of things to buy for me since he was in Buffalo.

Well...he didn't get me anything. I know...WOMP WOMP right?

Poor guy though was going on a frenzy trying to look for things for me. He felt really bad about not being able to get me anything. =( Sooooo he proposed that he take me to my trusty nail place and he said to pick whatever I wanted and he'll get it for me! YAY! Of course I told him to help me pick some colours out that he would like me to wear, and he said yes.

So in we go and his jaw dropped. He was like "You were sending me on a wild goose chase all around Buffalo to find you nail polish and you have all this right here?!!?!?" Of course he didn't understand that there are some brands that are not available in that little nail place, but he didn't care at that point. LOL.

I ended up getting 5 bottles and he picked the China Glazes out for me. =) They all totaled up to $22CAD.

(Without flash)
L-R: OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y?, China Glaze Tree Hugger, First Mate, Midnight Ride, Secrect[sic] Peri-wink-le

(With flash)

 Secrect?? Typo alert!! LOL

After purchasing, we met up with some friends and had dinner at a Chinese resto and watched "Sucker Punch" after. I was like 0_0 the whoooole time! Sensory overload! Lots of fight scenes, weapons, imaginary creatures, sick characters, thigh high stockings and short skirts!! We watched it on IMAX so it was pretty nuts!

St. Patrick's mani!

Hello everyone!! Sorry I'm a day late in posting, but better late than never!

Well in this case...it's better never. LOL.

This was my ode to St. Patrick's Day konadicure. I used China Glaze Starboard as my base. I really think this green is perfect for the occasion!! I stamped part of an image from plate m81 for the "clovers" on my thumb, middle and pinky fingers using Wet n Wild in White Creme. For my index and ring finger I stamped an image from plate m72 using Sally Hansen Chrome Pens in Green Chrome. The Born Pretty m71 plate has a better image of a four leaf clover but I didn't have it at the time. But I did finally receive my free plate and I can't wait to use it!

Both taken outside in the awesome sun that decided to show its face! Both show the disasters that are my cuticles. =( I had to edit it a little so as not to blind your pretty eyes.

Day off and playing catch up

Finally a day off!! Working the weekend is NEVER a good thing.

Ok so I'll try to catch up from where I left off.

This mani was done with Nubar Pharaoh's Purple as a base, then I applied Nubar Purple Beach on the other half of my nail. I didn't even bother taping it off...I just painted a stripe. *blush*

Photo taken in direct sunlight.

Photo taken indoors in natural light. You can see a bit of the duochrome going on.

The duochrome in Purple Beach is pretty. It flashes olive green, gold, and grey.

2nd one is with my fave out of my Bobbie haul, Weng Weng. It's also my first time dabbling in using my dotting tool...pardon the mess...I'm a n00b.

Taken in direct sunlight.

Closer shot. Oh how I love this polish!!! =) I added the colourful dots cuz I was feeling spring-y. I used Joe Fresh in Coral and Powder Blue and China Glaze For Audrey.

I've got 3 more to show you but that'll be for another post. One of them is Nubar Reclaim!! This polish literally rendered me speechless. I couldn't believe how gorgeous it was!!

'Til the next manicure!

The Electronica and White Cap disaster

Excuse me for this disaster I am about to show you. My parents have been riding me about changing my nails so often, saying it kills brain cells, I'm gonna suffer for it later on in life etc. Soooo when I do get the chance...it's hurried and sloppy. =( How do you explain Big 3 Free to my parents who don't understand?  And I don't know what to do about my dry hands and the skin around my nails. My job requires me to wash my hands A LOT and it takes a toll on them.

Anyhoo, here are some pictures of the disaster that I sported for about 5 days. Gah. Oh and these pictures were taken RIGHT before I took it off so, even more disastrous!

With flash. I was so disappointed with how this mani turned out. The other pictures of people layering White Cap over ANYTHING always looks gorgeous. Mine is a calamity of epic proportions.

Taken without flash. Another picture of the abomination.

I used Color Club Electronica for the base colour, stamped with my former #1 stamp champ, Sally Hansen Rave Review Critique, used image plate m57. I layered China Glaze White Cap over my index, middle and pinky fingers.

*sigh* I guess I can't win all the time.

On another note, I'm currently growing out my hair and I'm trying to basically keep it healthy with trimming, hair treatments etc. I just dyed it back to super dark again, I got sick of the black roots and gradual turning into mahogany brown with caramel highlights. I'm thinking of maybe doing updates of how my hair is doing and what I think of the hair treatments. What do you guys think?

Catching up!

I gotta catch up to posting my Konad/manicures!!! I've got 3 for you right now, one is my official Valentine's Day mani, one freehand fail and one is the "I'm-tired-of-wearing-red-and-pink" mani.

DRY HANDS/CUTICLES ALERT!!! You have been warned!

First is my official V-day mani. Base colour is China Glaze Ahoy and I stamped using Rimmel London Pure Silver (#1 stamp champ!!!).

Taken with flash. This was 2 coats of Ahoy. I love love love this colour!! The shimmer is so pretty and application was great!! Even though pink is one of my fave colours, I only have like 4 bottles of pink nail polish.

Whole hand taken with flash. This is pretty colour accurate. I used the images from plates m72 and m04.

After 5 manis of red/pink, I needed a break!! So I decided to do a little bit of freehand nail art using the Color Club Dark Romance Matte Collection and failed miserably. I only took a pic using my Blackberry cam so please excuse the blurriness. And lookie! I haz nubbinz!

Thumb to pinky: Dark Romance/Smoke and Mirrors, Dark Romance, Dark Romance/Alabaster, Smoke and Mirrors, Dark Romance/Alabaster.

So after wearing it overnight, I quickly took it off and replaced it with this.

Ok so, no excuse for the blurriness of this picture since I was using my digi cam. =( This is one coat of Color Club Dark Romance, one coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Color Club Matte Topcoat.

Next I've got a hankering to do China Glaze Jolly Holly and layer it with White Cap! And maybe do it matte again? ^_~

'Til the next Konadicure!

Valentine's Day mini-haul

Belated Happy Valentine's Day to you all!!

So my bf and I celebrated on Sunday because he had to work yesterday. He took me shopping at Sephora, went out to dinner at our fave lil hole-in-the-wall that serves Thai and Vietnamese food and watched Gnomeo and Juliet! So at Sephora, he told me to pick out what I wanted (all within his budget of course) and I came out with these beauties!

Left: Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Eye Primer
Middle: Tarina Tarantino Fleur De Lash mascara in Black Opal
Right: Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain

Of course as soon as I purchased them, I tried them on! The eye primer is very good. It made my oily lids look matte and clean. Unfortunately, didn't have any eyeshadow on me so I can't test it for creasing, fading etc.

The mascara was fantastic! Those who know me, know that I'm such a stickler for mascara. I was actually worried that I wouldn't like this because my first choice was Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascara. Unfortunately, they were sold out. =( So I quickly looked around and this caught my eye. This mascara is DEFINITELY buildable with minimal clumping for me. I still went through my eyelashes with a comb of course just to help fan them out. But I love love love it! No matter how many coats I put on, my lashes never had that crunchy feeling, they still remained soft.

The lip balm stain is also a big win for me. The shade I chose is Donutella, which is a sheer coral strawberry. The packaging is adorable first of all. I've always liked Tokidoki ever since I first saw it. The balm itself is fantastic! It glides very smoothly on my lips and the colour is very apparent!

Chel also picked this up for me at the Winners that she went to. Color Club Dark Romance The Matte Collection minis!!!

L-R: Matte Top Coat, Alabaster, Smoke and Mirrors, Dark Romance

I have resisted matte polishes for so long because I never thought that they would look good on me. I wanted my nails shiny and eye-catching! But as soon as I put these babies on...I died a little. It opens up a different world of possibilities for nails! And of course, Chel said the proverbial "I told you so." I'm currently sporting Dark Romance with Hidden Treasure and matte top coat.

After our night out, we stopped by Walmart and did a little bit of grocery shopping. I stayed away from the cosmetics department until an idea popped into my head. I realized that I had no space for my polishes with the kits that I currently own, especially with 21 more bottles of polish coming my way! See previous kit post. So I picked up a Caboodles "doctor's bag".

L: Konad supplies, top coats, stripers, polish remover, cotton squares
M: China Glaze, OPI, Color Club
R: Sally Hansen, Wet n Wild, Joe, Minis, Sula and all others

China Glaze, OPI and Color Club

Sally Hansen, Wet n Wild, Joe, Sula, Minis, CQ, Rimmel, Maybelline

Next post will be my Valentine's Day mani and current one.
